A Trip to Hawaii to remember. Oils? You look at Oils on Vacation? OK I”m fixing to tell you about something very special!
Yes I can”t get away from work. When you go to Hawaii, the things you remember are often the small things. Not necessarily the beaches or the volcanoes or the native dancers. I remember the essences of the islands. Of course, what I remember was that little tiny bottle of Kukui Nut Oil in my Hotel room with all the other goodies in my welcome basket. There are many stories of visitors who found the treatment for their troublesome skin problems was this miracle oil. But raw oil isn”t the best way to enjoy the real benefits of oil. It MUST be in a lotion base to get the best of it”s properties. So we scoured the Island looking at Kukui Nut Lotions and guess what, they were all the same garbage sold on the mainland. An inexpensive carrier oil (like mineral oil or Sweet Almond Oil) and a small amount of precious Kukui Nut oil, so they could call it Kukui Lotion. And the other ingredients often were animal derived.
Oh I forgot to mention, Kukui Nut oil is one of the most expensive and precious oils in the world. At about $140.00 a gallon. I never really figured we would ever use it as a primary oil for a lotion.
What we couldn't find in Hawaii we make here in Florida. Go figure?!?!
So what makes this so much better than what you can buy at Walmart?
- Like our moisturizer, Animal Ingredient Free. Almost all moisturizers and lotions are made with animal derived ingredients. They save money and most people don”t know, because there is no law requiring you to know what ingredients are made from. We only used vegetable derived ingredients. Even if you are not a vegetarian, you will love how wonderful our products make your skin feel.

Kukui Nut Oil is in our opinion the best single all around oil on the market. It is light and not greasy. Kukui absorbs into the skin and heals dry areas.
-
Unfortunately it is EXPENSIVE. It sells for about $140 a gallon, if you get the good stuff.
-
Whenever available we will spend the extra money for food grade ingredients versus just cosmetic grade. This is an important point.

Keep in mind Mineral oil by the drum costs about $6.00 a gallon. No wonder everyone uses it. (except us)

GOOD STUFF? yes all Kukui Nut oil is not created equal. We only use Hawaiian, expeller processed. Never any chemicals used in the production. We”ve tested some Kukui oils from other countries. They STINK. Smell like chemicals. No wonder they are so much cheaper.

Ok but so what? This isn”t the only body lotion using Kukui, is it? No, but we don”t use any other oils. All others we”ve found primarily use other inexpensive oils and use a small amount of Kukui so they can put that on the label. Sneaky huh? Got to read the labels these days.

OK so how can we use such expensive ingredients and still sell a product so reasonably? NO MIDDLE MEN. The only way you can buy this is through us. No stores or distributors to add their profit on to the price. Remember every time it goes through someone”s hands it doubles the price. If a cheap product costs $2.00 to make, then they sell it to the distributor for $4.00 and then they sell it to the stores for $8.00 and then the stores will sell it for maybe $12 to $16.00. And it”s still cheap ingredients. Many times there are more hands than these that these products pass through.

Made Fresh. Our moisturizers and body lotions are made fresh in small batches of about 200 bottles or jars at a time. Why? We”ve found it is better to provide a fresh product. Besides, pick up any moisturizer in the store and chances are it was made years ago. This just can”t be good. But it”s the way retail works. It”s why we have turned down many stores who want to stock our products. Another reason we make small batches is about 1 out of 10 batches have to be destroyed. They just don”t meet our standards.
